I highly recommend this resort! I want to thank the staff for going out of their way for me. They are a very nice staff and made me feel welcome. The room was beautiful, and the ocean was even more beautiful. I spent most of my vacation right in front of my room.

There are a lot of convenient stores and a Denny's right across the street that has friendly service. There's enough to do there by the resort: beach, restaurants, stores and photo opportunities. The resort also offers plenty of on-site activities for everyone. Whether you stay there with your family or by yourself, this hotel and location is paradise!

I give it 2 thumbs up!

"...far cheaper than the big resort hotels"

Having done all of the research to work out where we wanted to stay on Maui, we thought, why spend all the big bucks to stay in an expensive resort, when you can stay at Hale Pau Hana for far less money, with a room directly overlooking the beach/sea.

Booking all this from the UK was easy as Cindy [Hale Pau Hana staff] was so helpful. Their own web site shows pictures of all the rooms - so you know what you are getting.

With a hire car all locations were easily accessible. We went in late November so it was quiet - no queues anywhere. Yes you can drive around the southern tip as part of the Hana road - we did it in the cheapest rental car no problems.

Thoroughly recommend Hale Pau Hana resort - great view, great location, great people. ...and far cheaper than the big resort hotels.

We had the most amazing time. The resort was very nice and clean. The grounds, beach, pool and amenities were superb. We are planning another trip to Hawaii, within the next year and will, without a doubt, try to stay with you all again.

I cannot say enough about this fantastic spot! My family and I vacationed at the Hale Pau Hana for 3 weeks last Nov. and loved it! The view is 5 star and the grounds are nicely kept. We found that there are a lot of the same families that keep coming back year after year. That says a lot about the place! Kamaole 2 Beach is definitely the best beach in Maui (especially for kids) and the Hale Pau Hana has it all to itself! Worth every penny.

We just returned from a 5 night stay at the Hale Pau Hana, and we vowed to never stay anywhere else. All the units are huge, with a great oceanfront patio. [In our] 1Br/2 bath unit, the kitchen was super, with dishwasher/garbage disposal, fully loaded with utensils and cooking gear. Awesome living room with island decor, 2 couches, cable TV, VCR, CD player, and AC plus ceiling fans. The location is excellent, with plenty of dining in town or in nearby Wailea. There is even a helpful concierge service available. We visited the huge resort hotels and knew that if we were there instead, our view would be a courtyard or parking lot rather than the spectacular views of the ocean just steps away! There is maid service M,W,F. The staff is friendly, there are washers and dryers on site, and we will stay here whenever we return to Maui.

Hale Pau Hana is a great spot for a vacation. First off, it is a small complex right on the beach. Ocean view, ocean front, beach side, are all the same at this place. We have stayed other places in Maui, and ocean view or ocean front can easily mean you are several hundred yards from the water. This is a great swimming beach, easy access, great for kids, calm waves. We have stayed at other hotels in Hawaii where you pay for ocean front only to find out that access to the beach requires climbing over coral or the surf is too strong.

Recommend this spot highly, if you want fine dining, Wailea is 5 minutes down the road.

It's quiet but very friendly (staff, guests and on-site owners) without pretensions. The condo units in the rental pool are well displayed on the HPH web site and if our rented unit (#8) was indicative of others, they are well maintained and show care & interest by the owners. The immaculate grounds and pool with immediate access to a great beach just a few steps away (no roads to cross!) rate highly with us.

When you do cross the street, there's a good variety of shops and eateries within walking distance. For us, a rental car really wasn't necessary, except for initial (chain store/big box) provisioning and a couple of days of touring. "Our" beach and the next one over (a 5 minute walk) provided the sand and sea environment we came to Hawai'i for.

Gotta luv the onsite BBQ's available to guests, "Da Kitchen" across the street, Thursday social hour(s) with local entertainment and our hostess with the mostest... Cindy.

We just returned from spending several nights at the Hale Pau Hana. What a wonderful surprise! We discovered it by simply driving past.

Breathtaking sunsets all from the comfort of your own lanai. The beach was extremely user friendly - good waves for playing, soft-sandy bottom and good snorkeling in the coves near the beach. The condo was colorfully decorated and had all the comforts of home.

I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a reasonably priced ocean-front room in south Maui. The location is central to the major highways around Maui. If you are looking for some quiet and private time, this is the place for you. As an added bonus, the concierge service is great for helping suggest and arrange excursions and restaurants. We'll definitely return to the HPH!
